Porcelain Veneers
One of the most popular treatment options for creating your perfect smile is by use of dental veneers. Precisely shaped in a dental laboratory from fine pieces of porcelain, when veneers are bonded to the surface of your front teeth, they become strong and durable. When fitting a crown, the entire tooth needs to be reshaped however, with a veneer, only minimal tooth enamel is required to be removed, so once secured, your new veneered teeth appear the same size as your adjacent natural teeth.
Porcelain veneers are placed to cover chips, discolorations, straighten crooked teeth and even as an alternative to orthodontic treatment.
Similar to other restorative procedures receiving a veneer requires two appointment visits and meticulous preparation. This will involve lightly buffing the teeth receiving the veneers to remove a minor amount of enamel so your new teeth do not appear oversize when compared to your natural teeth.
At your second appointment your veneers are permanently bonded with specially developed dental adhesive and polished to a tooth-like finish. If you want a whiter smile, a whitening treatment must be completed prior to the fitting of your new veneers as they are porcelain and will not able to be colour changed once bonded.
Full Ceramic Crowns
Designed to cover a single tooth in its entirety, a dental crown adds protection and strength to a tooth, which has undergone root canal therapy, has lost a large filling or has succumbed to extensive dental decay.
At Smile Dynamics, we choose to place zirconia crowns for their superior strength, longevity and aesthetic properties.
To ensure that perfect result our dental team will first conduct a thorough examination from which a tailored treatment plan is developed. Similar to other restorative procedures, receiving a crown will often require two appointment visits.
Your first appointment will involve the careful preparation of your tooth. An impression mould of your teeth is taken, from which your replacement teeth are made. A temporary crown may be secured while your permanent one is being made at our preferred dental laboratory, sculpting of your replacement teeth will take between 1 – 2 weeks.
At your following appointment, any temporary teeth that were placed are then removed and your new permanent teeth secured with specially developed dental adhesive and polished to a natural looking finish.
