My gums are bleeding, what does this mean?

Bleeding gums are an initial sign of gum disease…

If your gums are bleeding when you brush or floss your teeth it could be you are in the initial stages of gum disease. Gingivitis, which is the early onset of gum disease, can be devastating to your oral health so it is very important to seek the advice of your dentist if you have bleeding gums in conjunction with any of the following symptoms:

  • Persistent bad breath or bad taste in the mouth
  • Red or swollen gums
  • Tender or bleeding gums
  • Painful chewing
  • Teeth that feel loose or weak
  • Receding gums/gum withdrawal

If you are experiencing any of the above please book an appointment at our Wahroonga dental practice so we can assess your gums and ensure their health.
